Sagada Escapade Series: Banaue, Mt. Province

Around 6:30AM, My friends and I arrived at our first pit stop: Banaue, Mt. Province. It was an excruciating 12-hour ride from the heart of Manila up to the northern part of Luzon. You can also take a plane up to Laoag, then travel south again (I think 4-5 hours land travel) to reach Banaue.

A beautiful sunrise on top of the mountains 🙂

To celebrate this historical event (lol), Here’s our “X marks the spot” photos 🙂

The province is very peaceful and very refreshing. If you need to unwind from stressful work, this is the place that you should go.

Transportation in the boondocks is very unique. I must say, “Only in the Philippines.”

See? I told you :))

This province is famous for its one of the most spectacular places on earth and considered to be one of the world’s heritage sites, The Rice Terraces.

When I was young, I only saw this remarkable site on books and online. Whenever this topic was discussed, for me, it was a simple, and boring rice field with a twist. Somewhat a ladderized version of our common crop field. It wasn’t nostalgic until you see it with your own eyes! Lo and behold!

Of course, great view comes with a very savory meal! It’s not your typical tapsilog because they are serving Red Rice.

We also tried their veggy omelet and Daingsilog. All meals were served with coffee, yum 🙂

The gals had their jumpshots, just to kill some time while were on the road for a stopover.

After a while, we headed towards Sagada Proper, the heart and soul of our long journey.

(A/N: So sorry, it took so long. I really thought I was able to post this one but as you know it, uploading encountered some technical difficulties, ;P I’ll post our tour to Sagada on my next entry.)

See yah!

Sagada Escapade Series: Introduction

Stressful months passed by and I can’t help myself to have my icebreaker. I need a break! I have to unwind to clear my mind from all the anxieties. So I decided to file a leave and go north! Haha.

Sagada, Mt. Province, is located in the northern part of the Philippines. As the location implies, Sagada is located in the boondocks so traveling would be a heck of a price on the butt, as in literally. From Manila, I and my friends traveled 13 hours by land! There’s no airport in the mountain to begin with so we don’t have a choice. This 13 excruciating hours almost paralyzed my butt, hahaha. But don’t worry, there were stopovers along the way for comfort breaks( I think we had 4) as call of nature (which we called “Mayor”) strikes on some of us, hehe.

Our first stop of Sagada series would be on Banaue, Ifugao ( this is not yet in Sagada).

I’ll be posting part 1 of the series on my next entry.
